Why choose AFM® NG?
- Efficient filtration
AFM® guarantees predictable and reliable filtration efficiency that remains stable over time. Thus, unfiltered water never enters the pool. - Fight pathogens
AFM® prevents the growth and transmission of pathogens. This makes pool water much safer to swim in - No chlorine odor
With AFM® in your filter, urea is not biologically converted to ammonia: no biofilm = no trichloramines = no chlorine odor!
The activation process prevents bacteria from attaching via biofilm to the filter medium, which improves water quality and chlorine consumption. The total filter surface area is also increased and, due to its hydrophobic properties, it also attracts even the smallest contaminants that are otherwise too small to be filtered out.
We recommend in our filter systems to work with a 50/50 to 60/40 ratio grade 1/grade 2. Grade 2 you place first and thus comes at the bottom of the filter vessel. If you only need a total of 1 to 2 bags of filter glass, work with grade 1 only.
How many kilogram filter glass do I need?
On your filter vessel it usually says the recommended amount of filter sand in kg, you can do this times 0.85 to arrive (with some margin) at the required amount of filter glass, because you need a maximum of 85% of the weight of filter sand because filter glass has a lower specific gravity.Sometimes it's also indicated (inside) the vessel what the minimum and maximum height is for filling with sand or glass. Definitely try to achieve the recommended amount of filter material, but don't go too far over it either because then you'll wash away the excess filter material with the backwash.
AFM®ngoffers the best filtration efficiency
AFM® filters finer than quartz or glass sand. The independent and renowned European filtration testing laboratory IFTS (www.ifts-sls.com) tested AFM®, quartz sand and other types of glass sand. The tests were conducted with clean filter media without biofilm.
